Osram SSL Family of LED Perform

Germany has for decades produced goods of such high quality that they have become renowned worldwide as the masters of engineering bringing many superiors quality products such as Osram leds, Mercedes Benz, BMW etc.

To Osram quality control is paramount and as a result every single Osram diode is correctly tested, binned and packaged to exacting standards and ready for the end consumer. What it says on the reel is always 100% accurate.

This of course means that we can have 100% confidence in the quality of their leds as they are second to none.

Highest PPFD Output for Lowest Consumption

Its quite often a fine balance between getting high ppfd output and a long life from any led, with the Osram SSL family we can take them up considerably over their binned output level to within 10% of their maximum operating level with absolute minimal impact upon the led ensuring a high ppfd output that drops less than 1% per year.

Lower tier led’s brands are often operated up and above their operating levels meaning that a considerable output drop over time is measure of 15%+ per year.

The osram led we use are binned at 1w and still at this output level 350ma they exceed the output of a standard 3w led, we take them to within 10% of their maximum operating level and effectively cool them giving us an incredible and reliable output that far exceeds that of any other led lamp on the market today for total consumption.

Of all the led we have tested and used commercially for the past 5 years the Osram SSL family still provide the highest PPFD out for the least energy consumption available if used correctly.

 
Fit for Use in the Harsh Environments

Most led’s are made for industrial, commercial or domestic applications and they measure their drop in output over time based on a short general usage time. 

So for example a Cree diode designed to be used in flood lighting or car headlights will drop output considerably when used for horticulture as these type of diodes are only expected to be on for 2-3 hours maximum at a time not for 12 – 20 hour;s at a time.

With the Osram led’s that we are using they are designed to be on for long periods of time and have a lifespan of double a normal led at a staggering 100,000 hours with very minimal drop in output over time.

With our effective cooling system and solid pcb we have measured less than 1% output drop per year for the Osram SSL family when in use for 12 - 20 hours per day.

Exact Horticultural Wavelengths

With Osram leds every diode can be guaranteed to hit the exact wavelength and bandwidth that are needed for optimal photosynthesis as they are specifically designed for horticulture.

Many led grow lights have many different bands and this is simply not needed as even cheaper leds have a considerable bandwidth and can partially cover some of bandwidth that is required for most horticultural purposes.

So with a combination of 6 different osram diodes in our custom ratio we create a perfect multi spectrum for growh and bloom giving you a one light fits all solution to simplify your indoor grow areas that fits like a glvoe to 90% of the plants that are commonly grown.

Different ratios can be ordered for custom projects for where our standard ratio is not suitable.

 

 
Solder Pads for Exact Seamless Fitting

Well trust the Germans to come up with an elegant and seamless solutions to a problem, most led’s are mounted with a small heat sink beneath them and negative and positive legs protruding from either side to allow soldering to a PCB.

This method has its problems as the led’s are adhered to the PCB with a tiny amount of thermal grease to help conductivity, however if the led’s are not placed down exactly then there can be thermal resistance spikes which can cause the led’s to blow. 

Osram have pioneered the use of Solderpads allowing the led’s to be fixed to the PCB by way of tiny little positive and negative pads beneath the led which then fit exactly into the PCB, no mess, no fuss and no thermal spikes ever.
