Our Budmaster Emerson (EM) series is primarily designed as an experimental or stimulation light for growers who wish to simulate the Emerson Effect.

The Emerson effect is named after ‘Robert Emerson’ who first discovered the effect in 1957.

Using the Osram SSL150 (Wide Spread Lens) in conjunction with an M4 MCPET reflector (more than 99% reflective material) and our standard modular build the new Budmaster EM is efficient and reliable and provides the perfect lighting spectra and output for your bloom-rooms.

Infra-red and UV led are notorious for running hot so we have extra powerful fans and our standard pin fin heat sinks keep the led running at a cool steady temperature which will give a minimum 3 year lifespan.

Osram SSL Horticultural LED

With Osram led's every diode can be guaranteed to hit the exact wavelength and bandwidth that are needed for optimal photosynthesis as they are specifically designed for horticulture.

With the Osram led’s that we are using they are designed to be on for long periods of time and have a lifespan of double a normal led at a staggering 100,000 hours with very minimal drop in output over time of less than 1% per year with our cooling system.

In fact these led’s are so good that they are guaranteed to never drop below 25% of their overall output within their lifespan.

So with a combination of 6 different osram diodes in our custom ratio we create a perfect multi spectrum for growh and bloom giving you a one light fits all solution to simplify your indoor medical grow areas.

Different ratios can be ordered for custom projects for where our standard ratio is not suitable.

Designed, Tested and Manufactured in the UK

We design all our lamps from the ground up here in our base in North Wales and we source primarily UK manufacturers for components and raw materials.

Our lamps are then manufactured to exacting standard by Marl International (www.leds.co.uk) in Cumbria.

One of the reasons we picked Marl to manufacture our PCB and lamps is simply that they are the best that Europe has to offer and have been working in the led industry since 1970.

With highly skilled and conscientious staff at every level of their business they truly work as one large family all focused on led perfection, couple this with their state of the art SMT centre running three complete production line SMT systems and the end results is truly exceptional.

Every step of every process is documented and tested thoroughly to comply with ISO 9001, CE, ROHS and CUL / UL legislations ensuring a 100% safe and quality end result. For example every single board that is produced for us is then tested in a purpose built jig to ensure high quality standards and then each board in each batch is allocated and assessed individually before being signed off by an experienced operator.

Here at Budmaster LED we design our lights with the grower and the space they are trying to cover in mind. For example all of our Budmaster lamps are specifically designed to fit certain common grow tent areas such as 120cm x 120cm x 200cm.

Using effective vertical penetration with our custom lens we ensure the target area has effective PPFD levels whilst minimizing reflectance from the surrounding area to increase efficiency by up to 10%

We generally recommend that your plants grow no closer than 2ft to the light to make best use of the output, however strong healthy plants can grow right into the light with very little adverse effect on the plants.

Measuring Average PPFD

You will see many companies displaying PPFD reading from a quantum meter on their websites either via a central point measurement or a PPFD grid.

Quantum / PPFD meters are not a very accurate way of ascertaining average PPFD levels but are intended for doing basic field measurements of a single point which is not indicative of your overall PPFD.

If the spectral power distribution (SPD) of a light source is known across the relevant wavelengths (400-700 nm), then the amount of photosynthetic energy available to plants can be determined.

Based on its SPD, a light source will have a conversion factor that can be used to translate luminous flux density (illuminance) received by the plant into photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD), in μmol/s-m2.

Getting the Right Average PPFD for Your Environment

It is of course very important that you use your lamps in the best way possible to get the most out of your grow room, with that in mind please refer to the guide for recommendations on the hanging distance of our lamps.

Of course you may find that by adding additional carbon dioxide you can increase the amount of available light to your plants.
